Tools to Help You Communicate Critical Issues

Passport
The U.S. Travel Association provides members with ready-made communications resources, such as talking points, sample news releases and op-eds, PowerPoint presentations and graphics, to help the travel community speak with one voice on a variety of critical topics. Recent toolkits distributed to U.S. Travel members are available below.

Travel Means Jobs toolkit

Labor Day and everyday, policymakers and media should recognize travel as an engine for our nation's economic growth and American job creation. Use the resources within this toolkit to spread the word about the important role of travel in creating and supporting jobs in your community.

Toolkit

Keep America Meeting toolkit

Meetings and events matter to the U.S. economy.  In 2011, meetings and events generated $99 billion in direct travel expenditures, which supports 859,000 American jobs and contributes $15 billion in tax revenue for local, state and federal governments. Tools provided will help protect American workers and local communities and deliver the message to "Keep America Meeting."

Toolkit

Defend Your Budget

With reductions and even elimination of an entire state tourism office, U.S. Travel wants to help you get your budgets back. Let's make the case for why travel matters – an ongoing effort for all of us, particularly during these tough economic times. U.S. Travel has packaged valuable ammunition to help you fight the good fight and inform your elected officials on why travel and tourism is important and how it supports vital public services.

Toolkit

National Travel and Tourism Week toolkit

This kit includes a number of useful resources, ideas and travel facts to help you plan and stage effective activities in support of the annual National Travel and Tourism Week, including tools to organize a U.S. Travel Rally Day event in your community or state.

Toolkit

International Travel Promotion toolkit

President Obama has signed into law the first-ever national travel promotion and communications program to attract more international travelers to the U.S. The toolkit of resources provides useful templates for crafting messages to your local media and expressing thanks to policymakers in the House and Senate who helped make TPA a reality.

Toolkit

Business Travel ROI toolkit

The analysis on ROI of U.S. business travel by Oxford Economics is a critical tool in the battle to affirm why travel matters, especially for meetings, conventions and exhibitions, and incentive programs. These tools will help you spread the word on business travel's effects on profitability.

Toolkit

H1N1 / Swine Flu toolkit

While it's critical that the travel community do all that it can to ensure spread of H1N1 is limited, these tools assist in vital communication efforts to underscore the critical role travel plays in our economy to ensure appropriate responses as information about swine flu becomes available.
