The first-ever direct flight from Dubai to Orlando, Fla., touched down amid much fanfare Tuesday, connecting this tourism-dependent area to the growth markets of Asia and the Middle East. The bump to the regional economy from that single new route will be $100 million and 1,400 new jobs annually, according to the Greater Orlando Aviation Authority.
