India is one of the world’s fastest-growing travel markets, and the U.S. has long-been a favored destination for Indian travelers. In fact, after many years of strong growth in visitations, India has become the United States’ ninth-largest overseas inbound market. Travel claims a 30 percent share of all U.S. exports of goods and services to India, the highest among our major trade partners. Valued at $14.7 billion, travel is the top U.S. industry export to India. Travel also generated an $11.1 billion trade surplus with India in 2017, more than any other industry.

The U.S. and Indian governments jointly declared the year 2017 as a “U.S. and India Travel and Tourism Partnership Year". The enhanced cooperation in promoting bilateral tourism was aimed at further increasing visitations between the two countries.
