Leisure Travel Decision Making
This first white paper of three in a white paper report series provides insight into leisure travel intentions and top motivators and detractors to take time off to travel. The overall purpose of the study is to better understand the process U.S. travelers use to evaluate and select leisure travel destinations.
The second white paper analyzes the destination selection process. Better understand the most desirable trip attributes and the primary sources of information travelers rely on when deciding where to book their next trip as well as differences between generations in the latest white paper.
A final white paper analyzes the influence that digital behaviors, including use of destination websites, social media, online travel reviews and mobile devices, have on travelers when selecting a destination and making travel plans.
This report is based primarily on MMGY Global 2015 Portrait of American Travelers but also includes highlights from other studies including Meredith Travel Marketing, AARP, Expedia, Google as well as key findings from our own Project: Time Off and other U.S. Travel Association research.
