Los Angeles Wildfires, January 2025

A Message from Discover Los Angeles (January 15, 2025)

There are times when words aren’t enough. In the face of the tragic events of the past week, we can’t adequately express our appreciation for the global outpouring of support for our City of Angels.

Our focus continues on the safety and well-being of both residents and visitors, and we stand in awe of the heroic efforts of first responders—many of whom have traveled to LA from across the country and around the world. While they have made remarkable progress, we urge everyone to stay informed through Cal Fire as containment efforts are ongoing in certain regions of Los Angeles.

We hope you, like us, have seen the glimmer of hope over the past few days.

We have witnessed brave frontline workers who have come together to support our Los Angeles community. We have seen our City band together to create donation centers, take in friends and family, and become a place to gather. We have seen the generosity of local businesses offering us a sense of normalcy in the face of heartbreak. We have also found hope in the relief organizations and community organizers who have worked tirelessly to be there for our community.

At the heart of our community are Angelenos, our angels, who remind us that we will rise together and lay the foundation for a resilient and vibrant future.

We love you, Los Angeles.

A Message from Visit California (January 15, 2025)

The extent of the devastation caused by the ongoing wildfires continued to emerge over the weekend. Our thoughts remain with the impacted communities, first responders, visitors and partners in the region as we focus our efforts on supporting their immediate needs and recovery. We are continually updating our Travel Alert with links to local resources, including relief accommodations, road closures and messages from local authorities. At the same time, we are actively preparing to drive recovery efforts with dedicated marketing resources, ensuring we are ready to support the region’s resurgence when the time comes.

The National Weather Service has issued a Particularly Dangerous Situation Red Flag Warning as strong winds are forecast to return late this evening and persist through Wednesday morning.

Despite the growing scale of this tragedy, the resilience and kindness demonstrated by those most affected has been deeply moving. Their steadfast spirit serves as a powerful source of inspiration and strength as Los Angeles works through this tragedy and begins the long path to recovery.

One question we’ve been asked repeatedly is, "How can I help?" In just the last 48 hours, LA relief efforts have received over $75,000 in support from industry partners, including ASAE, Destination Greater Victoria, Destinations International and its foundation, IMEX, Longwoods International, Meet Boston, PCMA, Visit Baltimore, Visit Greater Palm Springs and Visit Seattle.

We encourage those who want to assist to donate to the LA Wildfire Recovery Fund, benefiting the American Red Cross. The Red Cross has been providing essential support to those affected by the wildfires, including safe shelter, meals, emotional support and other critical services. Los Angeles Tourism has established a dedicated page where you can make a donation. Los Angeles Tourism has further amplified these efforts by pledging to match all donations dollar for dollar, up to $25,000.

These contributions reflect the unity and generosity of our industry, coming together to provide immediate relief and begin the long journey toward recovery. Together, we are demonstrating the power of collective action and true California Love.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to our local partners for their support of their communities. As we navigate this crisis together, let us remember to be safe, be kind and be helpful to one another. Thank you for all you do.
