IPW 2025 Delivers Clear Message: U.S. Must Be Ready to Welcome the World
PRESS RELEASE June 20, 2025
CHICAGO -
U.S. Travel Association concluded IPW 2025 today in Chicago, wrapping up a powerful conference that drew 6,000 delegates from 70 countries and generated momentum for the next three years of international inbound travel to the United States.
“The total direct spending value of the travel industry in the United States is $1.3 trillion every year, and almost $200 million of that comes from international visitors,” said U.S. Travel Association President and CEO Geoff Freeman. “Yet over the last decade, America has lost ground in the global travel market,” said Freeman. “To reclaim our share, we must deliver a stronger, more seamless experience that meets the expectations of today’s international travelers.”
The enduring theme of IPW 2025 focused on ways to increase lawful visitation to the United States—and it is set to deliver on that. New data from U.S. Travel and Rockport Analytics projects that IPW 2025 will attract 10.9 million new visitors to the U.S. over the next three years—generating $26.1 billion in spending, supporting 63,000 American jobs annually and producing $3.3 billion in tax revenue.
Over three days, more than 100,000 business appointments connected the U.S. travel industry with global buyers and media, showcasing the full spectrum of American destinations—from world-renowned landmarks to hidden gems.
Chicago, this year’s host city, took center stage with dynamic events and experiences across the city. Choose Chicago spotlighted the city’s culture, creativity and spirit, reaffirming its place as a premier international destination.
“Congratulations to the U.S. Travel Association on a spectacular IPW 2025,” said Kristen Reynolds, President and CEO of Choose Chicago. “It’s been an honor to partner with the U.S. Travel team to deliver a seamless, world-class event that showcases both Chicago and the U.S. We’re proud to have welcomed the world to our city that is Never Done and Never Outdone and look forward to building on IPW’s success to drive future visitation to Chicago.”
IPW 2026 will be hosted by Visit Lauderdale in Greater Fort Lauderdale, Florida continuing the momentum next spring.
