WASHINGTON -

U.S. Travel Association Executive Vice President of Public Affairs and Policy Tori Barnes issued the following statement on Vice President Mike Pence’s announcement that Poland will shortly be welcomed into the Visa Waiver Program:

“The Visa Waiver Program is one of the best tools there is to bolster American ties with our best economic and security partners, and the U.S. travel community could not be happier that Poland is in the home stretch to join the VWP fold.

“History shows that adding countries to the VWP almost instantly increases the numbers of thoroughly vetted travelers they send to the U.S., which boosts our economy and exports. We hope there will be similarly happy news in the not-too-distant future for other strong VWP candidates, such as Israel and Brazil.

“We thank the Trump administration for its longstanding recognition of the proven value of the VWP, and we congratulate Vice President Pence and President Duda for being able to make this announcement on the occasion of their visit.”
